No that is not a picture from the Die-cast Car Collectors of the Philippines Xmas Swap meet, but that is how I pictured my would be table while preparing for the meet. And this is how it really looked like. Close enough. XD Who knows, maybe a couple of years from now I'll have a booth of my own on every hobby show, swap meets and conventions.
December has been a very very busy month so far. IPMS National Scale Model Competition happened a few weeks back, I was there basically to look at the entries, take pictures and chit chat with friends. Where's the pictures you ask? Taking my first picture at the event, a message showed on my camera's LCD. "Not enough memory" it said, I opened the camera and found out that I have left my SD card at home. I can tell you this though, there were lots and lots of awesome builds! Hehehehe I beg of you please forgive me.
A week after the competition was the annual three day Xmas Toy Convention and the DCPH Xmas Swap meet. I was at the convention during the first day with my camera as well. Pictures? Well my camera showed another message when I was about to take pictures. "Battery Exhausted" it said. I beg of you please forgive me!!! :D hahaha But I do have pictures of my haul! A Diapet Yonezawa Nissan Skyline and a Tomica (Prototype) Toyota MR2!

Most of the time when a collector hears or think of a toy convention, they think of convention exclusive items, rare finds and new releases. It's a different story for me though. Conventions for me is a chance to snatch a cheap, vintage, loose toy. If you have visited my old blog, you will notice that most of my convention hauls are handed down toys that I got for cheap. Having this line for a collection has it's own pros and cons, during conventions I really do not worry about other attendees because there are very few collectors who collects the same stuff that I collect. However, because there is almost no market for used and loose toys, there are instances that I have zero hauls during a convention because very few exhibitors brought loose stuff. That is why I was very happy to snag these two off a cheaps' bin of one of the exhibitors.
The following day I then went to the swap meet with my goodies, tired and sleepy from the convention I was not able to make it to the opening. But this time I did not forget to bring my SD card and charge my battery the night before. However, ecstatic and busy chit chatting with friends, I forgot to take pictures of the die-cast cars being sold. I beg of you please forgive me!!! :D
The swap meet was held at the Volkswagen showroom in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. I believe this was the second time that the swap meet was held at the VW showroom, but this was my first here. As expected, the meet was packed by collectors and cars laid beautifully on each table.
There were a lot of good deals around but since I was not able to take pictures of them let's just move on to the stuff that I got from the meet. RAOK or random act of kindness is something that I first learned about when I joined the group several years ago. I have been and still a member of several other groups but there's one thing that separates DCPH from the rest, it's the camaraderie and the willingness of everyone to help each other. I was able to acquire a few hard to find's before because of this group, not to mention I got it almost at SRP. Going back to RAOK, I think all of the members of the group have had experienced RAOK at point or even several times while being a member. RAOK in the DCPH group can be defined or described as someone giving someone a car or cars as a gift. No special events, nothing requested for, no nothing just a random act of kindness towards a fellow collector. Most of the time this happens when a fellow collector acquired something that is not part of his line and he knows someone who badly needs it. Such a special special group. I rarely see this happen in other groups. With that I present to you the RAOK's that I got from the meet. Special thanks to Jerard, David, and Hanzel for these awesome gifts!
The Rallye and the 300TD were both a surprise from Jerard, he surely knows the cars that I like. Now to look for loose ones because there is no way I would be opening these babies. The four loose cars are for my projects, the Greenlight Dodge police car will be a wheel donor, the Hotwheels Ford Galaxie will be a wheel model for my new wheel sets, the Tomica Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R will be restored and the Majorette Toyota 4WD will be awesome! So excited for the Yota 4WD, for those who recognizes the car, well Kudos to you B*tch! hahahaha
Apologies for my French but who wouldn't if you have this in your collection! If you still have not picked up what or who used this car in a television series, well let me just tell you then. It's Jesse Pinkman of Breaking Bad Toyota Tercel! Yeah B*tch! hahaha well close enough I guess. I'm not really sure which Tercel was used for this Majorette casting, but I will do my best to make it look like Pinkman's Tercel!
Here's a couple more cars that I was able to snag at the meet, this would be my third Stagea which is okay because I have lots of plans for them, the Legacy however is a lucky haul because I have been trying to get one at the right price and condition. Perfect for my Gramps and Mech Stig's project! All in all the events that I have attended were all a blast! Really happy with my hauls and I am really looking forward to a new year. Hopefully with bigger and better hauls and much much more products from the HOH garage!
Anyways, that is it for me this time. Happy Christmas and Merry New Year everyone! Always remember, keep on OverHaulin!
